peace like a river in my soul

Choosing a guiding word at the beginning of each year to serve as a gentle reminder, encouragement, and inspiration for the days to come has become one of my all time favorite traditions.

This year, my word came easily - I like to think it rather chose me! 'Peace' has been a whisper on my heart for ages and I'm finally ready to fully embrace it and all that it will bring (more peace...yes please!).

My heart is in desperate need of this word to calm anxieties and to quiet fears.
And I have to tell you - since declaring peace as 'my word' of the year....it has been showing up almost daily(!!). No joke.

One of the craziest/coolest reminders happened the other night. My little family went into town for an evening walk, and I could sense an argument with my husband approaching...in that moment, I looked up to see A NEON GREEN PEACE SIGN, all lit up in a shop window. I absolutely love happenings like this!

So tell me!
Have you chosen a word for 2016? I would love to know!

my heart resides on the outside

It seems as though I've only just blinked my eyes - yet here we are, nine months (to the day!) since my last blog post. The day before our sweet son was born. I used to hear parents exclaim that somehow, after children, life accelerates. Time flies. Days are long, and years are short. Yes, yes, and yes! Oh, how i get this now. It's so beautiful + heartbreaking (the fast-ness).

My heart has missed documenting and savoring and sharing here, and it seems only fitting that today be the day that I jump back in with both feet! If you've been following me over on instagram, you've caught glimpses of life these past few months: adventures to the beach, walks in the woods, stolen moments for creativity, and lots of photos of my heart (aka baby boy Sawyer):
So much love to you, dear friends. I've missed you!
